Earthquake Damage: Bat Collection

There was an earthquake on Tuesday, August 23rd in the DC Metro area. Some jarred specimens from the Smithsonian broke–bummer!

Also, I would love to be in this room! Things in jars are so fascinating.

The Smithsonian had a satellite museum in Leesburg, VA called The Naturalist Museum with taxidermy, wet specimens, bone collections and so on. I loved it but it was far away. It’s closed now, because they’re moving to the Natural History Museum on The Mall. Hopefully it will be just as good and hands-on, in addition to being closer to home.
